Default AFR 230 on LS2...need help PTV clearance

I'm about to pull the trigger on AFR 1610 230V2 62cc heads to put on my LS2. I currently have an EPS cam 230/238 .604/.604 113+2 cam....I know I will have to check but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a similar setup and could share there experience. Do I have enough PTV clearance or do I have to flycut the pistons?

Thanks,

If these heads are like Gen-1 and Gen-2 AFR heads, they would have more material at the base than stock heads and that would give you more PTV clearance than the stock heads would.

That said, I would suggest you call AFR to verify .

I called yesterday, and they couldn't confirm if I would have enough ptv clearance but they did say that this was the right set of heads for my application.

Regardless of what someone says on the internet, you need to always check PTV.

I would bet you will have enough PTV clearance with those heads and cam using stock thickness head gaskets on a stock shortblock. But regardless, ALWAYS check PTV clearance when installing heads and record measurements for your record and future reference. Also, besides checking for proper clearance, measure the PTV clearance to determine optimal head gasket thickness.

Thanks,
I just installed 72mm 230 heads milled to 67mm with a 235/242 .621/.592 cam on an LS2 with flat top pistons without problems.
