Default LS2 source?

I'm building an old 57 Chevy on tube chassis with tr6060 with LS2. My current issue is sourcing parts for the motor. I was told it was a gto ls2...but it has 58x reluctor and vette / rear wet sump pan. So I'm assuming seller was wrong. the motor is torn down to short block and it has single bolt cam and 243 heads. So:

1-how can I verify no afm or vvt?
2-I cannot find any vin derivative /decoder for ls2. Any way to tie back to source car?
3-I'm planning to go with 4150 style intake. As its torn down to the short block would folks recommend swapping cams or ??? And no I'd prefer not have to cut the Pistons.

Finally this is to be a cruiser that'll make its way to the track a tile or two but more just to prove it isn't a trailer queen. I'm also planning to use it as DD a bit as my reliable truck is too boring.

I don't think any LS2s came with AFM or VVT, and the 58x crank I belive was in the 07 Corvettes and possibly TBSSs. 24x was only for GTOs, SSRs and 05-06 Corvettes.

What is the block casting?

Should be from a vette then.

This thread covers this issue. Some engines got 58x in '06 whilst others didn't.

My LS2 block came drilled from the factory for AFM, but had the factory blockoff valley cover with o-rings on it. To the best of my knowledge no LS2 actually deployed AFM or VVT. You could pull the intake and water pump and have a look see if you really wanted to be sure. If there was either of those technologies, there would be an electronics connection on the valley cover, and one one the front timing cover, in addition to the cam sensor.
