LS1 Main Caps In An LY6
A little background info:
I purchased a 2010 LY6 and discovered a couple of lifters and cam lobes destroyed which also destroyed the crank. Seller helped by giving me a Gen III crank. I removed the VVT setup, carried over a GEN III cam and ran the engine non-sequential with just the 24x reluctor (aftermarket ECM). Unfortunately, I had an issue with the converter charge pressure being too high and wiped out the crank thrust. Also discovered some of the main caps are tweaked and was advised not to reuse them. I have access to a set of LS1 main caps and want to know if there are any reasons I could not use them. I realize I would need to have a line hone done.
I just acquired another Gen III crank and plan to go back to running full sequential and want to verify that the parts I need are correct.
- LS2 timing cover, 12600326
- LS2 cam sensor, 12591720
- Ractronix conversion harness that plugs directly into the cam sensor. ECM harness is wired for a Gen III cam sensor.
My N-Motion double roller cam sprocket has the required 180* reluctor for the cam sensor.
Appreciate any feedback.
