Trying to dial in an LS3 crate engine. Used the infrared to take temps and the pass side avg 490 degrees vs the driver side is 400 with cylinder 5 at 335. Also, have a tapping noise at approx 1/2 speed. Maybe lifter the engine has less than 200 miles on it and has not been beat on. I have read all the threads via search regarding misfires at idle and under load and not sure what else to do. Here's what I have done so far and no mil light...
New plugs, switched wires, coil packs, o2 sensors, checked for vacuum leaks, checked for exhaust leaks, switched fuel rail around, checked rocker arms and pushrods on cylinder 5
Thanks for the reply. I checked again which was the third time checking and there was a small leak at the manifold to downpipe connection! I will have to drive to see if the misfire is gone after resetting the LTFT. Still not sure why there is such a big difference in heat between Bank 1 vs. Bank 2 with infrared gun.....
Link bar lifters? They make a little more noise.
Not enough lifter preload?
The laser heat guns need to read the exact same spot and the same angle on each exhaust pipe to get a good reading----at least that is the way mine reads.
