Block mods for Sr camshaft
I'm running a factory 6lt alloy block and looking to upgrade to a Solid Roller cam. My question is what is needed/suggested to be done to block to restrict oil? Plug the DOD holes? Or run bronze lifter bores to block the holes? Up top I will be running pushrods with tighter/restricted oil holes
You don't actually need a lifter bushing with an aluminum block, oil doesn't need to be restricted to the lifter (atleast true for Morel linkbar lifters). Until the lifter bores are scored then they need a bushing. Jesel has a keyway lifter that instead of a linkbar has a slot in the lifter bushing to guide the lifter, that's how pro stock/mod engines are done.
Depending on how much spring pressure you need to use, ie over 800lbs pressure you would need a larger diameter lifter to gain reliability.
Use mild .420" nascar lobe will last long time with shelf stock parts, use a .500" lift lobe, will need a lot more valve spring... 7/16 pushrods, .937 Jesel lifters etc etc. Its as they say in your country a "knock on effect".
