Ly6 and AFM cam

Ly6 and AFM cam I'm building an 07 LY6 from a 2500 Silverado for my daily driver 97 volvo station wagon. Build details are mild...with a max goal of 350-375 whp. I'm keeping the fugly truck intake with a better throttle body because the pain involved to swap into the car intake is too much for just improved looks and not much real power gain under the curve. Heads will remain the stock l92 and VVT is being retained.
A friend who just finished his built l99 swap into his 98 volvo has quite a few good parts he is offering to me on the much-cheap.
I originally planned to pick up a TSP vvt-1 cam and phase limiter/chromoly pushrods, but my friend has the afm-1 cam for a steal. It's less hp gained over the vvt-1, but the price is pretty much impossible to pass up.
Before I commit, I wanted to confirm that this l99 cam will work inside my 07 LY6. From our understanding, there shouldn't be an issue, but I wanted to check here before potentially mismatching with something.

Wait a minute. AFM cams are special grind items just for AFM lifters. If you are doing an AFM delete you must swap out the AFM cam as I did on my 5.3L. I would not even consider putting an AFM cam in a NON-AFM engine. There is a reason it's so cheap. Does that make sense?

Yes, my engine doesn't have the AFM functionality. I was under the impression the vvt and afm cams were pretty much the same thing, but with the afm having lower lift than the vvt-1 cam?
I don't have any reason to think my friend is trying to screw me with the deal. I guess he could be wrong when he tells me it should work, which is why I'd like confirmation I suppose.

Right. I'm not suggesting your friend wants to get one up on you. Im just concerned that an AFM cam will cause a miss in a non-afm engine. I do know that AFM cams will cause a miss in 5.3L engines with all standard lifters. The grind is tweaked just enough to not work right. That's what has me concerned about your idea. Check out Texas Speed's website about doing the DOD-Delete and how a NON-AFM cam is required to do it.
