tsp ms3 pushrod length verification
Well tonight I got around to verify lifter pre load and push rod length. When I installed the cam, I just used the texas speed 7.4 push rods.
First I checked the pre load with the 7.4's by setting them at zero lash and counting the turns of the tq wrench to 22 ft lb's. I was able to get 1 turn, or roughly .047" pre load. Next I used the comp push rod checker and with zero lash I was getting 7.35" for length.
So with .080" pre load for the ls2 lifters, I should be looking for a 7.43" push rod? Should that help with the noise my engine starts making once warm? Should I be shooting for a little more then .080" pre load to help quiet it down?
Thanks.
