Default Help me pick out parts for a boosted block

Found a local low mileage LQ4 motor...complete with an ECU.

Looking to swap in a blower cam and some ported LS3 heads. If I was shooting for approx 700-800 rwhp (through a 4L80E) with a twin turbo setup from Huron possibly, what kind of compression should I shoot for? 9.0? 9.4? Less?

It will be driven mainly on the street...cam recommendations? Something with a nice lope that is boost friendly?

Recommendations on rotating assembly? The engine needs to be disassembled and inspected (sat for 4 years) so I figured might as well put some better quality parts in there.

Local shop figures $3500 labour, $2000 in parts for a long block.

My other option is an LSX B15 376ci block for about $7500 with a forged crank, forged pistons, and LS3 heads.

What would you do?

I'd build a 370 at 9:1 with Wiseco pistons and Callies rods. I'd set the bearing clearances really loose and use a high volume oil pump, like a Melling 10296 or 10355 even. I don't think you would need a really big cam, maybe something like 230/244 @ .050".

Went with Horsepower Solutions in Edmonton Alberta. 370 ci LQ9

Wiseco -11 cc pistons
Compstar H rods
ARP main studs
ARP head studs
Stock crank
LSA heads
RPM modded LSA rockers
Bret Bauer camshaft
VS Racing turbos
And a partridge in a pear tree. Not sure where to post the build thread.

230/244 @ .050 for a twin turbo 6.0 @ 700whp?
A cam that big is going to need at least a 118 LSA to work decent on a turbo setup.

Put that stuff down, Sir, its rotting your brain. I made 700whp on a bone-stock 6.0 long block about 6 years ago. Stock cam, heads, and all.
You're not going to need LS3 heads, huge cam, or super low compression to hit that goal.

It's not needed, but the engine is usually happier.

I wouldn't necessarily say happier. If the engine isn't detonating, then it absolutely doesn't care.

Then we have different definitions of a happy engine.

I'm being conservative when I say 700-800 rwhp. The #1 goal is reliability. #2 goal is streetabiliy. #3 is max horsepower. I like bumpy cams. My NA setup was a 236/242 109.5 LSA cam.
