need help with finding my motor hello everyone
I have been backyard building sb and bbc for many years. I would really like to jump into the ls motors to learn the new school blocks that will set new limits for the chevy world.
I currently have a 07 gmc hd with the l96 6.0, its been tuned couple years ago, but its my dd and I don't want to mess with it.
my plan it to put it in a hot rod (don't have that one yet, motor first), twin turbo, stand alone harness and be able to tune it with a lap top.
so Im thinking a craiglist or junk yard motor, the info I have read so far on the interweb has me cornfused.
so for tune ability I would like the 58 tooth crank wheel, opinions?
iron block so it could be bored down the road, limiting me to truck motors correct?
no replacement for displacement still stands right?
so how would I know if it has the 58 tooth wheel?, what years did they come?
liter size is located on the block?
if the motor doesn't come with the harness and computer, would most work as long as it had the 58 tooth sensor?
what am I missing?
probably put it in a 30's-40's truck. might even put it in my 41 chevy truck, like to build another
