Default L92 burning oil at an excessive rate.

I pick up a L92 longbock out of a 07 Yukon XL with 105k miles a few months ago with a bent pushrod, send the heads off for a full port job along with valve springs, ls3 intake valves and a bunch of new parts. Also did a ls3 valley cover and oil catch can.

The engine runs and drives great but is going through a quart of oil every 500 miles.

Do the L92/L99/LS3 engines have a problem with rings?

Only drain about a tea spoon of oil out of the catch can

Has any one had a issue of oil leaking into the intake/exhaust ports from where the bolt holes for the rocker arm bolts were hit during porting?

hopefully the valve guides where checked and valve stem seals were replaced when the heads were done.

Hopefully its something simple but if it isn't this just gives me a reason to build a stroker motor

You have to seal the threads on the rockers bolts on the intake side. Oil will be sucked past them. Its not talked about to much maybe most guys don't know.

Just got a e-mail from the shop that did the heads and they said the same thing. Going to use High temp Copper RTV, should that work?

Yes I've used copper rtv before. Works good. There's a lot of products that will work good. Just pick you poison and seal it up and your good to go.

Just was I was also thinking. High temp RTV or even plumber's teflon tape on the threads will work.
