Need help on performance part swap LQ4/LS2
Just to give you a quick start into my issue....Iīm working for 3 years now on a 69 pro touring camaro that has a 408 LQ4, fully forged and has a procharger on top running on a HP EFI.
Build is taking long so i got me a cheap 05 C6 Z51 with an LS2.
Didnīt take long to realize that the car is fun but not being able to keep up with a diesel mercedes station Wagon on the highway in 5th gear so i always had to shift into 3rd or 4th to really stick at his tail and make some distance between me an a Golf GTD in my rearview mirror.
By now i think itīs clear that i live in Austria right next to Germany.
Point is that the Vette has to get faster but since it is an impermanent car i donīt want/can spend a ton of money on it, but my body screams that i canīt leave it like it is
I was looking onto head/cam kits like the TFS LS2 Kit but it is over 3K and it is almost another 1.5k just on shipping and ImportTaxes to get it here. So i have a badass set ot AFR Heads sitting on my LQ4 which are even ported by Larry Meaux and at some point i thought about switching heads on the engines to save some big money.
My simple thought was that the procharger is pressing Air/fuel into the chambers and my camaro is gonna be a street driven car around town where some lost HP wonīt count anyways.
On the other side i would just need 2 pairs of head gaskets and a cam kit which is gonna be 4-500$ in parts and just my own labour.
Iīm gonna attach some pics of the AFR heads (Theres a number 150 on the side right under the AFR logo) so my question is: Am i gonna run into issues on the swap or am i missing some small things who are gonna make the swap impossible? And to be honest guys i bought the engine a couple years ago from a guy and i donīt have a clue about any specs besides that it was build for a F1 Procharger, which could have been included with the engine, that i didnīt buy back then.
