416ci ls3 Ticking on cold cold start...
I have:
Changed Lifters
Checked pushrod length
Changed oil several times.
Now my question... This motor was in a horrible wreck in my 93z. Nothing on the mntor broke. Buut it got banged up pretty good. Is there a possibility of something from the wreck causing it to do that? I literally pulled the motor out of the 93, replaced gaskets, and threw it in this car. NOTHING Changed. I did have the heads ported more but they didn't get milled or anything .
I'm at a loss here. I don't really care that it ticks, but I don't want it to cause problems down the road... the car has to sit for 12+ Hours for it to do it.
Most people think the key is thicker oil to take up the increased piston to wall clearance but quite the opposite is true. Low drag rings can't pull concrete north. My buddy switched from 20W50 to 0W40 and his noise became less
