Default Gen3 24x crank in a Gen4 block?

I picked up a 2008 LY6 6.0 and was wanting to run my gen3 harness and pcm. Ive done all my homework and know the Lingenfelter box is the easy way to go but the reason I ask about the crank is I am going to do rod and main bearings anyway so thought if i picked up a 24x 6.0 crank and changed the crank position sensor as well.... Anyone have info on this?

The crank will drop right in the box. Journal sizes didn't change.

I would just swap the reluctor wheels. I did this exact thing ly6 into 2000 Camaro. I tore it down cleaned everything and swapped reluctor wheels.

Unless you plan on swapping the whole rotating assembly you should probably get it rebalanced.

I did mine myself. It's not difficult at all. I scribed the alignment marks into the crank from the 58t wheel then popped it off. Now I heated the 24t wheel and slid it on lining up to the marks I scribed into the crank, once cooled it will shrink down and be very tight so make sure it's where you want it.

Default WELD Reluctor

Good advice, just one item "forgotten".

I ALWAYS "tack" weld the reluctor to the crankshaft.

Hopefully that doesn't become an issue for me but if it does I will definitely do it.
Definitely another good tip!

Did you ever do this? I am going to possibly be putting in my gen iii 24x crank into my gen iv block and was trying you see if I can get away without rebalancing the whole assembly.

I did this in my T/A. Picked up an 09 LY6 and had new bearings/rings installed along with a 24X reluctor. Tack welded on and I got it all balanced. It's all just a little extra peace of mind in my opinion. Just spend the extra coin and get it all done right so you don't question it.

Gen3 and Gen4 use different CKP sensors, 24x is black. Cam position sensor is on the front of the engine on Gen4, so you'll need an extension, PSI makes one. The knock sensors are on the outside of a Gen4 block and not in the valley, so you'll need extensions there, I think PSI makes those too. If you're using an Fbody alternator bracket you might have to drill and tap the upper mounting hole, (10mm x1.5) or 3/8's-18 if you have that.
