LQ9 with LS3 Heads NEED CAM HELP!!! PLEASE
I have a 1987 Cutlass with 3.73 gears, a 2003 LQ9 with the matching 4L60E tranny. I also have a set of LS3 head that will be port and polished that i would like to put on my LQ9. I would like to know if the cams listed below will work for a DD (at least 80miles/day) or if you would recommend a custom grind. Also what Stall Converter would be best for a DD with the cams below. Will a dual spring with the max lift of .650 work? i would like to see around 475whp with at-least 14mpg if possible
Xer 273HR (224/230 .581/.588 114) or
LSr 273Lr HR12 (223/231 .610/.617 114+2)
Which of the 2 cams listed best for a DD lq9 with ls3 Heads?
Will a dual spring with the max lift of .650 work?
Stall size?
Valve Spring size?

1. Either cam will work fine as a daily driver.
2. A set of .650" springs is exactly what I'd use. Specifically, I'd go with a set of PAC 1221 springs. --->> http://www.racingsprings.com/LS-Engi...-1221/Item/766
3. A good 3000 stall converter.....I like Yank, Circle-D and Vigilante.
4. 475HP to the wheels is a bit of a stretch. I would think you'd see something around 430-450 and maybe 16 mpg.....depending on the nature and amount of your city driving.
5. Long-tube headers and at least a 2 1/2" duel exhaust are a must!
What conversion kit are you gonna use for the install? I went with Muscle Rods. --->> http://www.brphotrods.com/products/7...cts/index.html
You'll probably need a costume made (for length) driveshaft......so be prepared for that possibility.
Best of luck!!
