Default DOD oil pump upgrade recommendation?

Looking to change the oil pump in my G8 GT. Having low pressure issues. Plan is to keep the DOD for now. Going to replace the pan relief valve, chain, pump, and tensioner. Would like the pump to be a good all around pump to work good for me when I do the DOD delete and bigger cam one day.

Recommendation on a pump?

What kind of PSI are you getting at idle and under throttle.

Generally DOD engines have around 22-25 PSI at hot idle.

But a good pump would be the Melling 10295.

Hot idle was around 10-15. Cruise rpms (1200-1500 rpms) around 25. Plus I put Marvel Mystery Oil in it and it killed something. Going to change the sensor first. If that don't work, then it's time for the oil pump. I was actually looking at that pump and thought it would be a good pump for me.

10-15 is a bit low, possible worn bearings or oil pump issues. The Melling 10295 is a great pump for a high performance stock replacement. Now the Melling 10296 is for bearings with excessive clearances over stock or would work for worn bearings.

Hooked up a mechanical gauge and cranked it up. Was showing 55 psi cold on the mechanical gauge. What a difference a fresh oil change will do on pressure especially when the dealer I got the G8 from had a Mopar oil filter on it. Looks like just another bad sending unit. I have a new sensor on the way. Still going to swap the pump out when I swap cams. Does the Melling pump come with the pickup or I just use the one I got?

I wouldn't swap to a 10295 or 10296 until after you do the DOD delete. Both are less volume than your current pump. The DOD pump is closer to the 10355. If you delete the DOD the 10295 is a good pump.
