Default Struggling with the "simple" stuff - cam timing marks??

Ive got the new cam installed in my truck. 2011 5.3. Just put the stocker back in with DOD and VVT. I finally found the dot on the crank gear.
Which is the correct mark on the cam gear? I have 3!!

Thanks!

Default Camshaft @ Split Overlap

Hi, I NEVER TRUST the MARKS.

SURE, many here will ask you to do a "degree".

That remark is just a "hip" statement.

The basin FACT is most camshafts "like" an installation at Split Overlap.
The PV distance is even at that point, the TDC of the piston and BOTH valves.

Thus an EASY check from the lifter position in the block.

SOME here, most, know the "1 & "6 pistons are "up" at the same time.
The same is TRUE with the cam lobes, one on the base AND the other on the ramps.

That "ramp" position is an EASY read with BOTH lifters (the body) at equal distance OUT of the block.

This IS named Split Overlap.
