Default LSA valve sizes??

Hey guys I've been searching high and low looking for a definitive answer for on what the valve sizes are in LSA heads. Are they the same 2.165" 1.59" valves like the ls3?? So far I've read that they have 2.160" or 2.185" intake and 1.50" exhaust. Any help on this would be great thanks!!

91 z28,

LSA stock intake valves are 2.165"/1.590".

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Every website I checked out the description had different sizes. Even the gmpp catalog was pretty vague. Thanks again appreciate it

Another note, the LSA head uses the same exhaust valve as l92 and ls3 heads but a different intake valve. The size is the same, the material is different as noted in the gmpp catalog as "premium stainless" which is up for guesses ;-)

Gm normally uses del west for their "upgraded" valves so that would be my guess.

Default LS-9 Valve Design

Hi, the CORRECT REASON for GM to state a Premium S/S Intake Valve :

The GM LS-3 "spec motor" with Spec Calibration (Turn Key, Colby) works fine is BAJA racing. (Lite Valves)

When the HP is upgraded, the Intake Valve may drop (the lite valve only).
Turn Key knows this and thus the Warranty may change if this is done.
GMPP knows as they will cover with Warranty if in stock tune.

I would be VERY CAREFUL of a Lite Intake Valve choice.

Ls3 and ls9s dont seem to have a valve dropping issue and their intake valves are light, one is hollow and one is ti.

Actually in 2009 - 2010 the l92 had that issue only in trucks and they had a stock solid stem vslve.

this maybe a stupid question, but will a 1.60" exhaust valve fit in the stock seat?? Or would machining definitely be required?? A buddy wants to sell me a set of stainless steel 2.165"/1.60" valves for a super cheap price is why I'm asking.

Putting a new valve on a used seat is a crime. It will work of course. at least lap them if you arent gettin a valve job.

Like WS6store said, it's pretty much pointless without a valvejob. Considering the "super cheap" price for the valves, I'd be willing to bet the 2.165" intake valve is solid stainless steel and HEAVY. Heavy valves like that are hard to control and can easily give you some serious problems if the rest of the valvetrain isn't selected properly.

No they aren't used heads, they are brand new bare castings. I was just wondering if the 1.60" valve would work or if I should just get the proper valves. I've got the spring kit just looking around for valves right now
