Default LS2 engine rebuilder?

Hey guys, I am looking for someone to rebuild my LS2 in my Trailblazer SS. It has a little over 200,000 miles and I'm looking for a good deal just not looking to get hammered because everyone I talk to thinks I'm a loaded because I have an SS Trailblazer... I have heard prices as low as $1,900 all the way up to $7800. I really can't afford a new vehicle right now and I would like to keep this because it's always been a reliable good-looking truck. Can anyone help out there?

Maybe go into more detail on what you mean by a rebuild. All stock parts? Upgrades? More power? You do the R&R or someone else? How much can you do yourself? Or full turnkey, you drive truck with tired engine in, drive out with new engine?
Details please, as there are many variables, as you can see.

If it is just a basic rebuild meaning; slight hone, pistons and rings (Our builder uses Wiseco), all bearings (Clevite or King Mains/Rods/Cam), gaskets and seals (GM or Felpro), oil pump (Melling 10295), timing set (GM LS2 timing set with LS2 Dampener), polished crank journals if needed, Oil barbell and Coolant plug set (GM Only), possible milling of block and/or heads, and a good cleaning of engine and parts, our local engine builder charges $1600-1800 depending on motor. I think he gets the parts for $6-800 and then $1,000 labor, not a bad profit if you have the right tools and machines and can turn them out in a day or two. This only includes the longblock (Oil pan to Valve Covers)

Now if it needs more, obviously the price will go up. Do you know if it needs anything. Does it currently run ok without making any noises?

We have complete ls2 rebuild kits that run $670. All new, heavy duty, USA made, and good quality. Finding a good machine shop to do it would be the issue. where are you located so maybe we can find a place near you. Quality machining is the foundation for a good build.

We have sold so many kits this month ive literally lost count. There are many many upgrades we offer as well both for budget prices and high quality

Let me know if we can help any more!!

You have a couple options near you:

Late Model Engines (aka LME). They're on Brittmore a little north of I-10. They have a good reputation, but are more geared towards high performance stuff. I don't know how often they take in stock rebuild type work.

You also have Westside Performance, they're a little further into Houston but not much. I've used them a lot in the past for machine work and they're pretty good.

That sounds like a really good deal! The motor and truck are completely stock and I've used it nothing book for long road trips, and a work truck. Do you have any contact information?

The best deal for you would be to find a shop that would do the work with parts YOU select, or even purchase (not sure many shops would do that). You need some control over what goes into your engine. The right parts will give you a truck with more power and efficiency, but NO bad manners(lol). If you are friendly with any local mechanics they might do as described above, or at the very least work with you on the build. Best wishes on your project!
You would be doing your self a big favor dealing with WS6 Store. They can put together a package of parts for you at a friendly price plus no small amount of tech expertise. You won't be sorry. Too many good reports here on LS1tech to make me a liar! lol

I am getting a stock rebuild on a LQ4 and the shop is charging me $1400 on the shortblock. This is in NY about a 1/2 hour outside of NYC so you know it isn't a cheap area. I did get a quote from LBR Performance in NJ who were on Horsepower TV and they wanted $3500 for a shortblock stock rebuild comical.

Well it really depends on what you are getting done. we have complete rebuild kits for $600-650 and machine shop work does vary. if they have to disassemble its a charge, if they have to assemble its a charge. file fit rings. install cam bearings. polish crank. surface and clean heads, valve job. torque plate bore, hone, and deck. just depends on what you need done. we can save most quite a bit of money with the right parts then the machine shop just does the machine work.
