lq4 block with ls3 heads or stock HI Guys
I"ve been read and searching through the forums. I"m new the engine world, Found out that i might be better to use the stock heads on my lq4 than buying a set of ls3 heads for 600 bucks.
For information the lq4 is going into a 1956 chevy truck with 1" 7/8 long tube headers with a 4l80e tranny and 3.42 rear end. I"m hoping for 450 hp and have its as a Daily driver. I"m thinking of putting a t56 behind the truck when i find some more money.. but for now i want to drive the truck and enjoy it..

You don't need LS3 heads for 450HP. Besides the heads, you would need a whole new intake system as the ports are different between the two types of heads, so you would be out a lot more than $600. What you might want to do is have your heads milled a bit for more compression and ported for a bit more breathing. That and a mild cam will have you at 450HP in no time.
