Need help from the pros! bottom end mishap with torque procedure

Default Need help from the pros! bottom end mishap with torque procedure

Hey guys i am sure you get this alot and i just want to cover my *** when i finish this engine. I am building a 416 ls bottom end well i did already.
i used the 15 lbs to 81 degrees sequence but i used a angle finder on a ruler and my eye ball to find the 81 degrees. Bootleg i know. Kicking my self now. am i over thinking this process or do you all recommend i take the short block apart get the appropriate angle finder and do it again. Everything else should be dialed side bolts are 18 lbs rods are 15 then final sequence 75. so its just the main bolts that i could have done wrong. Everything is new and prepped by a reputable machine shop. I hope all is well guys!

The angle gauges are cheap, and probably easier to use than with an angle finder and ruler. I splurged on a Snap On digital torque wrench that can be set to degrees to do those TTA fasteners.

Hey thank you so much! another question for you. If i go and do it again should i replace the crank main bolts ? or just remove the rods and re torque the mains down again with the proper guage

If you think you may have over tightened them, then they should be replaced.

awesome easy enough! i have another one for you. do i have to worry about the new bolts messing with the alignment of the crank journal if i get new bolts.
