Default Comp cam vvt or custom vvt cam

I have been trying to decide on a cam. The truck is a 08 Sierra Denali L92. I’m building the engine now and am looking for which parts I need. The cam is the only thing I haven’t decided on. I was looking into Comp cams xfi series 156-401-13 but I would probably need a converter. The comp cam is a shelf cam that from what they claim has substantial gains across the board. Who can I call and talk to about a custom vvt cam. The truck is heavy and will pull my light John boat but I would like to reach 550-600 rwhp. I can get specs on the comp cam if needed.

You will not hit those numbers without a stroker kit, supercharger, or turbo.

As far as the rest, ditch the vvt. I guarantee you will be happier.
In order to make higher than low 400s youll start to lose the torque that youll need to tow.
The tsp stg3 high lift truck cam is as big as i would go honestly. Above that you will reach the point of diminishing returns.

Have you had any experience with the newer vvt cams? The problem with deleting is I lose torque either on bottom top or midrange. The vvt allows the power/torque curve to be adjusted all throughout the powerband. Before I even started this build I was debating deleting and going with a ls9 cam. A few people have told me hit the 550-600 mark would be fairly simple. I’m gonna miss all the torque I had with the duramax.

Ive had years of experience with vvt cams and tuning.
The idea youll lose power somewhere is greatly exaggerated.
If that were true every ls engine would have vvt.

In all the installs we have done, dropping the vvt has always had the best reuslts, esp of your tuner cannot tune vvt.

Ls9 cam is a TERRIBLE idea esp for towing and in a heavy vehicle.

600 rwhp in a 6.2l truck would give you horrible torque and the power band would start around 4500 or above. No way youll get even close to 500. Not even with the best designed vvt cam. Not possible alone.

Whomever told you this needs to check their info. its not even possible to get 600 crank hp. Low 500s is REALLY pushing it for a truck cam also.

Default VVT Engine Cam

Hi Moto, Yes I know VVT camshaft AND installation method.

I can Regrind your camshaft (I have cores for X-Change) for $200.00
I will use your requirement specifications.
I will provide the Timing Chain, Lower Billet Sprocket, Limiters.
I can install the limiters in YOUR VVT motor
I would also like to supply the EOM 2010 Camaro Oil Pump, with pressure increased.

Sure, the VVT cam Phaser will ADD MUCH low end torque when the cam is advanced.
You WILL NEED a reflash of the PCM.

The VVT camshaft is a smaller duration than a standard design with wider Lobe Centers, good for D/D.

Lance, BTW I have a 2007 Escalade L-92

Default Vvt

I run a Comp VVT cam, in my 2011 6.2 L9H, it's a DD.
it's there smallest one, 210/224 .556/.586 114LSA 105 C/L
I had it dyno tuned, tuner adj the VVT for every day driving
and towing my trailer long distance. not for max power.
this is what i asked him to do. it will still kick ***.
it made 400+HP/390+TQ RWHP 1500-6600
drops off a few hp after 6800
