Default cam sensor help

Ok guys long story short I recently picked up a 408 from the wife of a technician that I worked with that just passed away. My problem is that it only came with receipts and only some paperwork so I've been trying to piece together what all has been installed. I removed the oil pan and the windage has been spaced and the internals are forged so I'm fairly confident everything I have pertains to this motor. It's a GEN IV 6.0L w/ a 58 tooth reluctor that I want to put in a 98 z28. The rear of the motor has a place for the cam sensor but it also has LS2 timing cover which has a place for it also. My question is what cam sensor should I used exactly and is there a way I can block off whichever spot I don't use?

Gen 4 doesn’t have provisions for cam sensor at rear.
You can use whichever you’d like, but you’d need to make sure the timing set is correct for front mounted sensor.

If you are able to swap out the reluctor wheel I'd do that and install the sensor in the rear. You'll need to swap out the timing set to to a GenIII cam gear. Doing that will allow you to connect your '98 wire harness to the engine without sensor extensions and without a converter box.

If you put the cam sensor in the rear of the block, then it doesn't matter which timing set you run.

Ok hold up lets straighten some things out first.

The gen4 blocks have the front cam sensor, grey 58 tooth crank sensor, and the knock sensors on the side of block.

Does yours have the oil psi sensor built into the valley cover? Do u have the infamous dod looking valley cover? Are u sure the rear hole behind intake where the gen3 cam sensor is located, isnt the dod sensor?
