Wiseco Pro Tru Pistons - Any good?
Due to the daily driver nature of the motor I am building, I had been wanting to go hypereutectic rather than forged. But I can’t help but consider the Wiseco Pro Thru PTS523A3. At $422.50 WITH RINGS at Summit Racing, they are as cheap (if not cheaper than) hypereutectic offerings (when you factor in the cost of the rings, which always seem to be sold separately with hypereutectics). And although they are forged, at least they are 4032 rather than high expansion 2618. They also work with stock rods. On the other hand, I wish I didn’t have to jump all the way up to .030” over. Is anyone running these pistons? Can they be run fairly tight for a quiet motor? And do they suffer from the downsides of forged pistons like accelerated wear (ie short lifetime), excessive noise, and high oil consumption?

I just built my LS3 in my GTO and used JE part number 298616 which is a 4032 piston.
The recommended piston to bore clearance is .0025" which is TIGHT for a forged piston. But given the 4032 material and coated skirts, they fit nice and tight and are very quiet.
Mine is also a daily driver and I've put about 300 miles on it so far.
