Cammed LS3 Noise

Cammed LS3 Noise So I recently re cammed my Camaro due to a lifter failure, got lifters out before any of them failed. Currently has a BTR Stage 4 Cam. New double springs with .660 lift titanium retainers all new LS7 lifters and all new gaskets. I torqued all the rocker arms to 22ft on the bottom of the cam lobe as directed. Rotated motor and rechecked all the bolts. After warmed up I am getting a tapping noise that I cant track down to save my life. I have attached a link to the video on you tube with the sound. Running Amsoil 5w-30 oil in it as well.

Needle bearings. One thing you should know, there HAS been a problem with trunnions wearing due to being too soft. Not just Comp's, others who used the same trunnions have the same issue. Not saying your noise is caused by the trunnions, but if you have more than 5000 miles on them you might take one apart and inspect the trunnion itself. If you have the problem, the trunnion will be worn where the bearing rides on it. The cure is a bronze bushing kit from either Straub or CHE.

Not saying your noise is caused by the trunnions, but if you have more than 5000 miles on them you might take one apart and inspect the trunnion itself. If you have the problem, the trunnion will be worn where the bearing rides on it. The cure is a bronze bushing kit from either Straub or CHE.

bingo this is probabaly what wiped out last camshaft

Thanks. I ordered the bushing style summit kit and tool and changed everything out already. Valvetrain hasn't been this quiet in a while. And the tool yall sell makes the job super easy. Now to see how well the bushing style kit holds up

History has proven that it will outperform the needle bearing style. You should be OK!
