Default Litter pump up???

got an LSX that is giving me a head ache with valvetrain. I measured pushrod length and set preload at roughly .030 but when trying to start its hard to start and missing and came out it’s holding valves open. If I go to a .050 shorter pushrod then there’s a rather large gap between the rocker arm and valve stem but runs with the shorter pushrods just a bit noisier. Right around .050 between the rocker arm and valve stem tip with shorter pushrods. I’m using brand new morel 5315 lifters. Any suggestions would be great!

Push rods are available in .025" increments within certain ranges.

Morel lifters tend to be kinda picky about preload. Might want to measure all 16 with an adjustable, or at least the pair at each corner, and buy PRs to get it as close as possible to what they recommend. Which if memory serves, .030" is reasonably correct.

Appreciate the response, I took a cylinders out and carefully put in the vise and slowly bled them and put them in and they are perfect now. For whatever reason they were fully pumped up and would not preload or adjust. Have roughly .030 preload now and no valves being held open!

What a pain in the ***, glad you got it sorted out.

Did you pre soak the lifters? I never soak them because I worry about them getting full of oil and not compressing when putting the push rods in.
