i just got done going through this, not done yet but at the end of the home stretch. i went with big name heads, but i can basically guarantee that with your exhaust, and even a really really really good valve job and port work on the stock ls7 heads, you will be very lucky to get 575 rwhp with the ls7 intake and the rest, assuming you are an M6 car. like you said the the msd can be done later but you will NEED 2 inch headers someday.

and to repeat a fan favorite quote thrown around on here, "whoever is doing the heads should spec your cam"
Ok let me clarify what I ment by it being a turd I'm not blaming the cam at all I know btr puts out top quality cams that make great power I'm not knocking them at all didnt mean for it to come out that way. The car is a c5 with btr 3 the car is fast just to me it shoulda been faster I dont know his full setup. I was looking at the btr 3 and 4 for my current build but got a smoking deal on the tsp 4.2 cam with only dyno time on it. I'm fine with whatever hp I get I just set a goal I would love to hit. Car is an my. Right now I just wanna get the car running then I will upgrade everything needed to optimize planning on new exhaust and intake and possibly an aftermarket set of heads down the road

What's the combination?
What engine, intake, compression, heads?

its ggoona be a lot more expensive to buy heads twice, just throwing that out there.....i am however ok with waiting on the exhaust and intake tho, but it will cause you to peak earlier which isn't a huge deal since you arent being a try hard about it.

not to mention a huge pain in the *** to reinstall heads inside of the car.....if the engine is out of the car, assuming it is since you are talking ls7 in a c5, just make your life easier and do heads once while you are out of the car. a lot easier to measure rods outside of the engine bay then in, and you wont feel rushed to do it

honestly the brodix off the shelf ls7 head would be my choice for you or at least a high contender........you could get them bare with a little bit of extras done to them for right around 2900, throw in the valves from your ls7 heads and call it a day.

The engine is still sitting in the crate at the moment till time for assembly. Motor is going into a trans am. I agree with you on the heads I talked to a non vendor on here and he reccomend brodex br7 full ported and set up ready to go for
3100 which isnt bad but I'm on the 3 kids and a wife budget so... there gonna have to wait for now

Did you really buy a cam based on getting a smoking deal on it ?

No I did not that was what made my final decision I was going back and forth between tsp 3.2 4.2 and the black mamba for the last 5 months I have been reading every ls7 thread I could find between ls1tech and the Corvette forum. The deal just made my decision easier.
