Default Weird Cooling issue

Hey all,
New to the forums posting but long time follower. I just encountered a weird issue I can not seem to ID. my LS3 gets to temp then idles fine. Then it goes from 190 to 230 and then back down to 200 or so. I thought it was just a thermostat... I just changed it... Same issue...

It never hits 230 for long. It goes right back down like the the thermostat opened..... When cruising on the highway it sits at 200 even on a cool night when normally with the 180 degree stat it sits at no more than 190.

The coolant does boil over when the car is parked and keyed off but when running it does not. Just goes up and down between 200 and 230 rapidly ... every 3 - 5 minutes it cycles that way.

Any ideas? Bad replacement thermostat or waterpump? The pump is not leaking and like I said it still looks to be pumping.

Might be the radiator or there might be a leak somewhere

No leaks detectable wiithout pressurized test but that would be one small leak and id notice that in levels.

Radiator is new

Check the cooling fan turn on temperature. Most likely too high. My Vette did the same thing until I had the fan on temperature lowered to 195 with a 190 stat.

I have a top end radiator, and after a few months it cracked.
It was a custom made one and the company had to make me another one for free.

All fine there. Didn't explain the high cruising temperature either

I was pretty pissed about it as I paid 1000 USD.
It was either a 5 or 6 core cooler, all aluminium.
The top brand in the country called Adrad. Designed to cool around 2000hp.
Luckily though, they were very quick to make me another one and I had it one week later so I can't complain really..
It's currently being fitted along with my other parts.

Your issue is a tricky one..
