I’m in the planning stages of a budget weekend warrior N/A LC9 build. It’s the usually carb swap with a Summit 8702 cam and BTR .660” Platinum dual springs. I’ve done some research and can’t seem to find a definitive answer on which lifters would be right for this build. Obviously with the DOD delete I’ll have to have new lifters. I was looking at the Summit LS7 lifters or just GM replacement LS2 lifters. Am I on the right track or am I way off course. I don’t want to spend a ton on aftermarket lifters. I’m not going to be turning this motor to the moon, maybe 6500 at the most.

Depends also what springs you are going to be using.
LS7 lifters would be the minimum I would use.
If you do go for a better quality aftermarket lifter I recommend the Morel street series tie bar lifter.
It's more robust and designed to be revved to 6500rpm.
I don't think they are much more than the LS7 lifters and you have the added security of the tie bars.
I had them on my engine once and they were very quiet too.
No ticking.
Just a heads up, the "GM replacement LS2 lifters" are actually LS7 lifters, as they are now the default replacement GM LS lifter.
Thanks for the info, I didn’t realize that. This engine is going to be as budget as I can get so I will probably go with the ls7s. Thanks for the info.
That cam is a little big for a little 5.3L at 6500 rpm, isn't it? I would go with stock replacement lifters and get a cam that has about 10 degrees less on the intake and exhaust.
