New GM lifter issues

New GM lifter issues I’m sure someone has posted something similar to this but I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue or any insight on what is going on. So I built a new motor for my 2004 Tahoe. I used a gen 3 block with gen 4 crank, rods and pistons. I am running a set of 862 heads and I put a BTR stage 2 truck cam with ls6 beehive spring in it. I used ac delco ls7 lifters. I went through the process of soaking them in oil before hand. Everything on this motor was built with brand new parts and sensor. All gm parts. So I have put about 2500ish miles on the motor and I have recently discovered what sounds to me to be a lifter tap on the driver side. Has anyone had this issue this early with new gm lifters? Is there anyway to “diagnose or pinpoint” a tapping lifter? Any info would be great! Thanks

Probably not the problem but check for exhaust leaks before digging into the engine to far, A small exhaust leak can sound a lot like a lifter noise. I've seen it happen a few times over the years. I even have a 80,000 mile 5.3 sitting in my garage right now that was pulled because of a lifter noise ( They thought it was a colapsed lifter). I bought it as a core engine for $80. When I went to tear it down I pulled the exhaust manifolds and found a spot were the exhaust manifold was leaking and had burnt the gasket. I decided to put it on my run stand before going any further and it didn't make any noise at all. My buddy was pissed when he found out he wasted money to replace a good engine.
