Default Is this an LS3 or LS4? (pic and video)

Hi, I am trying to understand what engine is inside this Porsche Cayman.

The installer says it's an LS3 from a front wheel drive car, yet from my research no such thing exists as the LS4 is the only one that's from a front wheel drive car. The distinction here is that he claims he got a front wheel drive LS as it's more compact and easier to fit into a mid engine car. Thoughts?

The LS4 is a bit shorter than all other LS engines, but it is a 5.3 engine, not a 6.2 like the LS3.
Also, the tranny mounting bolt pattern is for a FWD V6 tranny, not the traditional V8 Chevy pattern on all other LS's.
This guy either doesn't know what he's talking about or he's bullshitting you, or both.
Bottom line, no such thing as a FWD LS3.

Thanks for confirming the FWD comment. We need to cut the guy in the video some slack, he is based out of the UK so LS motors aren't his specialty ha

Is it possible to make out if it's the 6.2 or 5.3 from the pic?

Ok, the installer got back to me it's an LS3 with an LS4 crank pulley.

Not really. If a shot of where the tranny bolts to the bellhousing is available it would settle a few things.
I bet he didn't do the swap himself, just forked over a few bucketloads of money to someone else.

OK, that makes a lot more sense! He likely fabbed up the rest of the accessory drive, as no other stock bits will fit that alignment.
