Default LH6 Cam Selection + Cam Bearings

Hello,

I am building a e36 swap LH6. This is my second LS swap.
I have a couple of questions, first about the state of my cam bearings, shown below is the first bearing and how the camshaft that came out look.
There is a large dent shown by the red arrow, it goes in, and the Cam looks perfect in that bearing spot.
Should I be replacing this? Is so, does the whole rotating assembly need to come out?

One of the Cam lobes for the bearing has this mark, can't catch fingernail on it

The second question is a suggestion/recommendation. The power goal is for road racing, high RPM 5.3 NA. I have 799 heads that I wanted to mill 030 down, add a BTR RPM kit and using low travel lifters. I am unsure on a Cam that I could use for this. I am looking for something very aggressive but that I can spin reliably to 8000 RPM.

Thank you for all the help!

799’s and 8000 rpm don’t belong in the sentence, You’ll need better way better than those.

I was reading up on aftermarket heads, it looks like 799 heads CNC ported flow close to 330 cfm with high lift cams, similar to some high end AFR heads.

Is cfm flow the main issue or is there something else I am missing ?

It looks like after doing a bit more research, responding to my original questions. The rotating assembly does have to come out to give space to check the cam bearings are installed properly. Now to find a shop in Central FL that isn't crazy booked.

For the Cam suggestion, it seems that the RPM I'm aiming for is not really going to be making any more power. I think my setup would be for something like:
PRC CNC 799 Heads
Johnson Lifers
GM ASA Cam / Howard ASA Cam / or the "Hot ASA Cam" (still not sure about this)
Ferrea Hollow Stem Valves and Ti retainers

It’s not that power can’t be made up there it’s that the supporting mods to make it happen are big money. When you are asking if you need to replace your cam bearings most will assume you are short on the funds needed to get even close. Maybe not a fair assumption but the way it is. On your new idea it looks like a much better start. As for the cam, ASA cams are old tech and you can do much better.Call Cam Motion it will make more power and drive better

Thank you for the advice, I will give them a call.

And you are right. No point spending money on everything else and not do it right. I will have the cam bearings replaced and have a shop look over the rest of the block.

BTR seems to have some nice options too.

IMO the Cam Motion Lil lope or Little Chopper are good cam choices for an LH6. I'm considering the 222/232 .595/.587 108+3 and will be checking P-V with the stock cam to see if doable without fly cutting.
