All that Enginetech **** is straight outta China. If you hate your motor, it's the stuff to use, lol. I am in South Florida, all the trash rebuilders in Hialeah live on that Enginetech crap or even no-name China stuff if they can get it cheaper. I am guessing you want to do a better performance build since you are posting here. Use the Mahle/Clevite stuff, can't go wrong. Post your goals and we'll help guide you in the right direction.

I found this kit for sale cheep. I was thinking of finding a 6.0 and boring it out or a 6.2. I have a ls6 cam, intake, injectors and gen IV rods. Not looking for major horse power but in the low to mid 400’s. If it is not suited for this than I won’t buy it

I’ve used the EngineTech stuff a couple times with mild 6liter builds just for street and it’s fine. If that’s what your after, go through WS6Store, they are a vendor here on Tech. Service will be amazing. You actually get to talk to humans and they are knowledgeable about what your wanting to do. They sell a ton of EngineTech kits.

Whenever I see an engine for sale that’s claiming “FRESHLY REBUILT!!!” you know this is the kit they used.

Enginetech uses "private label" parts sourced from different manufactures. LS kits... the bearings are King, pistons Silv-O-Lite, rings Hastings, gaskets Victor Reinz. I have Enginetech rings & bearings in my LQ9 re-build. This engine didn't start out to be a performance type build then changed my mind after assembly. Two years with the limiter set at 7000... still have great oil pressure and zero oil consumption and the rings sealed instantly on initial break in. Would I use the same parts again??? ehhh probably not but they've held up well.

Good feedback.
My "next in line build" will get a 5.3 outta anything, mild cam maybe even factory LS1 for an easy tune. Going in a driver / cruiser. Ring/ bearing/ gasket kit with a machine shop hone is the plan. This kit kinda kit would work well.

Just a quick FYI- LS1 cams are nearly identical to the LQ4 cam, so you can widen your search.

yep, some of the 5.3's have some pretty meager cams, the flex fuel cam is a real pooch at .457 lift. 0968 .500 lift LS1 cam would be the only one Id consider, .525 hot cam if I can find one. The only reason im leaning toward a factory take out cam is to grab a readily available tune. The car will really be a driver / cruiser, stock stall 4l60, 3.55 or 3.73 gear.

I'd trust an untouched SBE over a cheap rebuild any day. Why does the engine need to be rebuilt, just to gain the little bit to go to a 6.2? I'd put a real cam in the SBE 6.0 and make more power than an LS6 cam in a 6.2 for far cheaper.

A proper tune will cost a lot less in the long run.
