With the exception of the supercharged LS9 that uses a forged piston, all factory LS engines employ a cast aluminum piston with a 1.5mm / 1.5mm / 3.0mm ring package. This is a stock cast piston from a 5.3L engine.
I did not know that fact on the LS piston rings, thanks for posting!
everything I’m finding is 1.2mm top and bottom with 2mm oil rings, not sure if JE missed a variation in the LS7 piston or not
