Default ARP head bolts or studs?

Building a 4th gen. Going to invest in ARP in case I need to pull the heads. Which type and model should I use?

If pulling the heads off in the car, you don't have much choice. Bolts. Studs might not allow enough room to remove the heads

Both can be used but I prefer the studs because it helps to keep the coolant from finding its way into the holes of the block when pulling cylinder heads. You may prefer the bolts because you may have to remove the studs anyway in order to lift the heads from the block when the engine is in the car and may require dropping the k-member down some which is just more work.

Depends what engine and heads you have. Early LS use a little different set of studs than later LS. 6 bolt heads need more studs. And some aftermarket heads might need longer studs near the valley. And sometimes people use oversized studs.

So, got to know more to suggest the right part numbers. Or you can call ARP and talk it through, but they have set me up with the wrong stud kit before because they can't possibly keep track of all the aftermarket head variants.

NOBODY ever said that you need to leave studs in the block when pulling a head. If need be, studs can easily be removed before pulling the heads. In fact, they may have the edge in VERY tight spaces since there is no head on them that can possibly get hung up on something while removing them.
