Default Compression ratio

Hey guys, I have a question about the compression I will be devolving. I have a gem 4 ls3 thompson motor sports 4.16 stroker motor with dished pistons and stock L92 heads that I am going to have polished and ported. Eventually I want to put a d1x pro charger system on my motor, but in the mean time before I do I am concerned about the compression ratio being low between the dished pistons and stock L92 heads. Anyone have any information regarding this concern????

What's the compression at right now? Anywhere from 8.5:1 to 9.5:1 will be golden with forced induction on pump gas.

Idk what it’s at right now, I don’t even have it assembled all the way yet, then I have to install it, I’m just wondering is I should get the heads milled, the gaskets I have are cosmetic 50 thousands thickness, and that was my other question. Are the gaskets I have purchased going to decease my compression? I know the standard thickness is 40 thousands, I wanted to go a little thicker for when I throw the D1X on.

Wallace Racing engine compression calculator can help you determine your compression and thicker gaskets decrease compression.

thanks bro I really appreciate it. Thompson never listed those specs in my invoice so I’ll have to call them for the valve relief/dome cc’s, stroke and deck height. My only other concern is the cam I got for the build and my injectors. I bought a btr jam cam, what gives me pause is in the description it says the cam works well in ls1, ls2 with cathedral port heads and SOME ls3 combinations. Mind you I am running rectangular ported L92 heads. The cam is meant to be paired with a pro charger which is what I plan on adding to my set up once the motor is installed and I break it in. The cam specs are 230/242, .608”/.615”, 115+4. Just wondering if I picked the wrong cam??My injectors are rated for 90 psi just wondering if those will be strong enough for a d1x or if I should get 100 or 110 psi rated injectors???

My understanding is that the stock LS3 gaskets are .051” thick. If it was me building this engine, I’d go with .040” gaskets because even though they’ll cause slightly higher CR, the improved quench should give you more resistance to detonation.

JMHO.

No real clue. That cam doesn’t seem too wild for a stroker, and the intake/exhaust split seems fairly normal for rectangular port heads. But I have zero experience with boosted LS motors (I had a turbo Datsun 510 back in the 80s), so I wouldn’t trust me on that.

My NA injectors run at 60 psi, so yours at 90 psi should be good for plenty of boost. But don’t trust me, ask somebody who knows about boosted LS motors.
