Default Help with cam choice

I am looking to install a cam in my G8. I was looking at going with a bigger more aggressive cam and a higher stall. But I really think a smaller cam and keep my ZL1 converter is the way I would like to go. I would like a nice streetable fun to drive car, if I had to say my horsepower goals prob around 420 to the wheels. I currently have VCM intake, stainless works long tubes, cat back, Camaro 3.27 rear end and ZL1 converter. I am planning on pac .660" springs, LS3 intake valve back cut, clean my heads, mill .035, port and rod mod the intake and debating on ported throttle body.
Cams I have been looking at areRCR lunati 219/223 .625/.625 112 or the low lift version .612/.615
RCR street master 219/227 .612/.615 112
Texas speed stage 1 225/236 .629/.615 114
Cam motion titan 1 217/225 .595/.587 114
Blue line performance probationary 219/223 .6xx is all I can find for specs

I think all but the Tx Speed cam are too small to bother with a cam swap. And I hate big cams on the street. I've done several small to medium cams in LS3's and have been happy with them. Cam only 226/234 114+2 made 465. 224/234 116+2 made 664 with 9.5psi of boost and bolt ons. 226/234 115+4 made 500 with ported heads, ported intake, and bolt ons. All with manual transmissions and all were very street friendly. If you're looking for a shelf cam, Pat G has one that would fit your program. PG LS3 STAGE 1 (patgtuning.com)

I have a Chevy SS (stroker LS3) so I kinda know how your G8 will respond to what you're looking at doing.

I also have an Impala SS with a heads/cam LS3 (BTR LS3 Stage-3 cam).....so I have a frame of reference for how a heavy sedan performs with a stock bottom end LS3.

In my opinion, you would be VERY well served by something along the lines of a BTR Stage-2 LS3 cam. It will easily meet your power and should be VERY streetable (only 5.5* overlap). I say this because the Impala is my daily driver and I'm not fighting the car at all with the Stage-3 cam. Also, stock converter and compression ratio works well with this cam. Your ZL1 converter with your increased compression will be even better. I would also recommend a good .040" compressed head gasket; I prefer Cometic gaskets.

The Stage-2 cam comes in at 225*/238* duration, 113* + 3* LSA and .620"/.605" Lift with 1.7 rocker arms. NOTE the link below....and best of luck!!!
