Default Ls7 Piston orientation

Anyone who’s messed with ls7s since the pin is offset in the piston does the low side face down like a 5.3 ?

Ok. Not only are the pins offset, but the rods are as well on the big end.

Post a pic of the top side. You have dots facing forwards on one bank, and rearward on the other?

The dots on the pistons are always supposed to face towards the FRONT of the engine-regardless of what side they are on. The dots on the RODS... That seems to be an area of debate. Some say they can all face the same direction, others say 4 point forward, and the other 4 point towards the rear. I believe they say that because the rod journals on the crank have no fillet where the side of the rod big end meets on the crank journal.. But... if the big end is OFF SET like someone mentioned above.. that throws a wrench in that idea.

I second that comment regarding posting a picture of the top of the pistons.
If installed correctly the dimples on all of the pistons will face forward with the dimples on 1,3,5,7 at the 7:00-8:00 position and 2,4,6,8 at the 1:00-2:00 position.

It has to do with rotation, so the offset would go to the same side regardless of which bank they're on. It's either all left or all right depending on which end you are looking from.

From what you've described in post #10 I'd say you have it assembled incorrectly.

I agree with this. All dots are to be oriented in the same direction. Post #10 indicates otherwise.
