Whats with the secret cam specs?

Whats with the secret cam specs? Is it worth it to get a custom grind camshaft from dougherty or ljms etc. for my application? I currently already have a btr stage 3 turbo cam (230/235 duration) The setup 6.2 ls, johnsons 2116s, powerglide, 1/4 mile small tire car. Plan to rev it up to around 7500-8000.

The Summit turbo cams have ran pretty well, too. Slowsedan can probably comment, he has real good turbo cam knowledge on here. As far as camming your combo, need a lot more info. What size turbo, plumbing, etc.

92/103 turbo. 3.54 gear, 28” tire, 3050lb car, glide, 6.2 aluminum block, 11:1 comp, ported ls3 heads,
With the right cam person, I don't see how it's not worth it. Sure most shelf cams will work for 90% of people and applications but if you want that bit of extra HP etc. Then go custom and work with someone who knows how to design a cam.
Agree 100%. And I’ll add here that I’d consult a camshaft guy with lots of experience in boosted applications. There is a difference when looking for max-effort boost builds, vs N/A builds.
