Default Stroker cam?

Getting ready to pull the trigger. LS2 408, untouched 821`s, stock ls3 intake, 92mm tb. Going in a 3900# truck. 4l65e , 2800-3200 stall. 3.73 gears, 31" tire. My fun truck. Not looking to run it out past 6k. I`d rather lose 20hp at 6k, than lose tourque at 3000. I have a cam spect out at 236/246 621/604 112+3 from one of the vendors here. It`s mind boggling, all the choices. I have a sloppy stage 2 in a fresh built 6.0, and it works well! 440hp at the crank, I just want more. Maybe 550? Thoughts are welcome, thanks!

For the rpm you want to turn, and just being a 408, I would look at using a cathedral head on it. I think it will run fine as it is and yes, will probably make around 550 crank.

That cam is a bit on the large side for sure.....I don't think that's a good choice for you. Especially with a 6K ish cut off point

And 02EB's comment on a cathedral head deal is spot on but you would want to run an aftermarket cathedral head with a small port and alot of flow (more flow than much larger LS3 with 40 cc's less volume!) but that costs money and requires a manifold swap.

Honestly with large port (and low velocity) OEM LS3 heads I think you will hate that cam.....it will only feel good upstairs and that's not what your looking for. It will be pretty soft at the RPM's your usually driving around town in and the vehicle is on the heavy side obviously (although light for a truck).

Shoot me an email or pick up the phone and we can discuss in more detail

-Tony

I have that cam in a camaro with a 403. Peak torque is at 5k and hp at 6.3k. I would go smaller in a heavy truck. I would get the cam motions "stealthy stroker" cam personally. 233/240-117+5

I would go with something like a 229*/244*, 110* + 3* if you're looking for a cam to generate strong low torque and good top end to the 6000 rpm range. Gonna want a SCR above 11:1.

IVO = 7.5* ___ IVC = 42.5*
EVO = 55* __ EVC = 9*
