This engine has sat for nearly a decade and my crank looks like this. Is it even good ? Main bearings are stamped .020 and rods are .010 . I plan to make about 700whp after it’s put back together. Will this crank survive if it’s ground down/polished again ? What opinions does everyone have?
As I said, the cap bearings take far more thrust than the upper block bearings. Hence (way) more wear....
The crank is harder and won't show wear like the bearings do here.
I concur that it looks good, but one additional thing is that you do NOT need to worry about grinding a crank an extra time. .020, .050. a quarter inch... It will hold. Your journal size is not a stress focus or failure point. People have ground down crank journals to 1.88 and run a thousand horsepower or more through them. A Top Fuel crank is only a 2.2" journal.
