Yeah, that would be me. I just throw parts together. Stock heads, stock intake, off the shelf cam, and hope for the best. Lol.

Pick any profession, don't care what it is and you'll find that experience is the best teacher, and the worst experiences teach the best lessons.

Man, this is about as spot on as any comment I have ever read, anywhere. Can't get any better experience than the time spent doing a particular job for many years!! Schooling and classes are also important. But actually getting your hands dirty while being up to your elbows deep when doing a job......there is no better teacher than that......

Learning from other peoples mistakes teaches the lesson a lot more gently.

I think that’s why most of us are here. We can learn from each other. I would rather duplicate someone else’s success, than make their same mistakes. At the same time, I hope someone in the future can learn something from my struggles.

Most of the time, I try to use the lesser expensive parts/methods. I know that not everyone has the same budget for a project or repair. There is more than one way to build an engine. I think what is more important, is having reasonable expectations for the method or route you choose to take.

I have those same heads saved in my Summit Wish List. I have a smaller Mast cam saved though. I was looking at their 240/256 (.604) cam. I want to shift by 7k rpms.

402ci, 243/249 cam with Mamo 235 heads made peak tq at 4800 and peak HP at 6650. LSXRT manifold as well. Just for reference. I know every engine is different but similar ballparks.

Well, I went all in and trusted a stranger. Despite the build time, we are mere days away from finding out if he s a genius or mad man on my "street car" build! We didnt really hold back much.
