Default LS3 knock sensor locations

What's the consensus of alternative mounting locations for knock sensors on the LS3?

I'm swapping an LS3 into a C5. I was planning on using the LS2/3 style two wire sensors as when I was fooling around with HP tuners I found a tab that let me switch over to the flat response type sensors (411 PCM). A search on google however suggested that while HP tuners lets you switch, that doesn't mean the sensors will actually work. (Is this confirmed?).
Looks like im going back to the LS1 style mounted to the side of the block. Two issues. 1- starter seems to be blocking access to the knock sensor mounting location on the passenger side; 2- Trackspec oil cooler adapter and lines are blocking access to the mounting location on the driver side- the LS2/3 fit because they are quite a bit smaller and don't stick out as far.
The spare engine mounting holes won't work because I'm also using long tube headers.

Where else can I throw these things?

It's easy to do. All you need is he gen3 to gen 4 extension harness that's set up for the flat response sensors. Then each plug will have a ground wire that will need need to grounded on the block somewhere.
I've done many of them. I get my harnesses from BPAutomotive. Call Bill, he will take care of you.

Thanks!

what tables need to be populated on the tune side? Or does the ECM just know?

Any knock settings will still be set/adjusted no matter which sensor is used. What the ECM/PCM needs to know is how the data is being read. i.e. Variable or flat response

are you simply buying these to extend gen 4 applications or have you successfully done this on gen 3 and the sensors have actually reported data?
