starter gear mesh
I have installed many starters on SBC and BBC and LS engines but never checked mesh of the gear and never had a problem, noise, etc. I decided to check my LS swap with my new 9109 Powermaster and see the gear to gear is .078"..and that's a lot! I checked at 4 points on the ring gear and on the pinion gear, same result. I see Power master says to mill the pad on the starter down. Maybe the Power master pad isn't an accurate machined part, hard to believe that..Anyone else see this? I will start with .005" then go from there till it is correct. Just asking..
Try it first. If it works good and sounds good, it IS good, no matter what the numbers are.
