Default Using mildly used lifters from a damaged engine.

So I blew my LS1 up in '09 and it's sat ever since. Had only 1000 miles on a full on rebuild, but it kicked out 2 rods due to an issue with the block ( same rods failed, 5 and 6, and everything was new except the block ). Regardless of that, I'm trying to salvage some parts from the engine if I can. My question is about the lifters. They are genuine GM LS7 lifters, but two got damaged. BTR happened to have 2 genuine GM LS7 lifters in stock, so I just ordered them. I've looked these lifters over with a magnifying glass and I can't see any other wear or damage besides the 2. I have no problem disassembling them to clean them out, and I'm already using the pushrods from this engine in my LS3 after cleaning with no issues. So, is there any real reason I can't use these in my new build? I can't see any, but if someone has one, I'd like to hear it.

You pretty much already covered it. It’s risk vs cleanliness.
If you are 100% in cleaning them up there shouldn’t be any worry.
Other people will prefer to toss everything and start new.

The Genuine GM lifters you purchased in 2009 are not the same as what is being sold today... I would look for some good new old stock or some nice used ones to replace the damaged ones with.

Yes, that's why I wanted to reuse them. What I bought from BTR were their remaining 2 NOS LS7 GM lifters. Not the Delphi ones.

Unfortunately there have been many engines lost to those Ls7 lifters even the old gm lifters and the delphi ones. Id recommend spending your money in the right places and go with the 2110r johnson lifters. They can take the abuse and you can worry about the next weak link in your setup.
