Default What is this sound?

I have a 376/525 LS3 swapped 01 TA. Around 20k miles on the motor. I was driving around yesterday, got into it about 4-5k rpm and heard a god aweful sound. No noticeable change in performance. I was hoping for an accessory pulley bearing, but it doesn't seem to be that when I am under the hood. Sound seems to be coming from the passenger side head. I am going pull the valve cover tomorrow and have a look, possibly replace the tensioner pulley. To me sounds like something in the passenger side valve train. The noise doesn't seem to happen under 3500 rpm. Motor is running good, good oil pressure, slight chirp coming from that same side, no noticeable noise from drivers side. Other than that motor is pretty quiet. I attached a sound clip. Is this what a shot cam bearing sounds like? Any ideas?

Thank you for any ideas

Remove the drive belts and run it briefly to eliminate all the belt driven components. Sounds like something is rubbing like a split loom tubing on a pulley.

Haven't had time to pull the valve cover yet. I did pull the belt off. I thought that that fixed it. Revved it some and could not get it to make the noise. Found that the tensioner pulley would make a similar noise when spun by hand. Replace pulley and went for a drive today. Spirited driving would not create the noise. Started feeling good. Then it started making it again, pulling away from a stop sign. Brought it home, pulled off the belt, revved the motor a little, and it still makes the sound. I guess when it cools down I'll pull the valve cover and take a look.

Pulled valve cover. It is spotless and looks brand new. All valves move. No broken springs, No noise when cranking. Looks like I'll pull the rockers and check for bent pushrods when I get a chance

Find anything yet, or havent had time, or?? Damn intermittent (old school term is morning glory) problems suck. Haven't had this exact problem......yet. But sometimes they are next to impossible to find, especially electrical issues. If I can suggest anything, try to determine exactly what trggers it, and when, like@what coolant temp, elapsed time from starting, etc. IMHO, if bent pushrods were causing the noise, it would always be present. Best of luck to you.......

Well... After examining the valvetrain and not really seeing anything damning, I had made my mind up that it must be the lifters and/or cam and had just about committed to pulling the head. I took 1 last look around, I had forgotten to remove ac belt. It really does not sound like it is coming from that area, it sounds like it is coming from the main tensioner or the valve covers. I have gone too far in the wrong direction before, and went ahead and put everything back together. Pulled the ac belt and went for a drive. Drove around for a while, nervous to hear the sound. Went ahead and full sent it. No noise. Took an hr long trip to the city, driving rather aggressive. No noise. So far so good. I am not ready to believe that it is coming from that area yet, however it sure seems to be at this time. I'll replace the idler and tension pulleys tomorrow probably, then try again. I hope it isn't the ac compressor, but we'll see.
