Hey, guys. I have a question I've never asked before. I've always replaced chains and gears/sprockets as an assembly. Learned this from years of experience in motorcycle drive chains. I realize timing chains are in a much more protected and lubricated location. Bottom line: Should I change my timing chain AND gears? Or is a new chain alone sufficient? Engine is a 50,000 mile wet sump, built LS7, running PAC duals. Looking at a C5R chain. Previous cam lobes show significant wear, trashed 2 lifters (wheels kinda delaminating, but no wheel seizing, and all 16 needle bearings good) so some small amount of crap was circulating, albeit not much, due to running a good magnetic drain plug, and frequent oil changes. Gears look good, but chain has some wear/stretch. What do you guys say? TIA......
