5.7 vs 6.0 Recommendations

Default 5.7 vs 6.0 Recommendations

I just purchased a Duce Coupe project that is 75% finished. I also purchased a 28' enclosed trailer to tow it to car show's. To do that, I will use my 2009 Avalanche with 3/4 suspension. Right now it has a LMG 5.3 with 315K miles on it. Runs fantastic but initial towing of the trailer, has indicated I need a little more power. I planned on replacing it when it expires. I have a spare LMG 5.3 w/243 heads. My question is do I go with a beefed up 5.7 using my spare engine or get a 6.0 block and modify it to meet my towing requirements. Any suggestions i.e.. LQ4/9, L76, L96, LY6 will be appreciated. I lean toward Iron blocks.

FYI- ALL LMG engines have 243/799 heads.
Get a Gen IV 6.0 and put a small cam in it, deleting VVT and/or AFM/DOD along the way.

I'll also add that the 6.0's came with 823 cylinder heads.

Thanks for the info. If I get a 6.0 that needs boring to clean up the cylinders, 30 or 40 should do the trick for my application. Yes, VVT/AMF/DOD will go.

I would do the iron 5.7 with what you have. You already have good heads/intake, just make the motor a touch bigger and cam appropriately. I think going to get a 6 0 and starting from scratch isn't worth it, in your particular case. I would def do a budget build, no big dollar pistons or anything.
