Correct ring gap and CR for ly6

Default Correct ring gap and CR for ly6

I'm in a bottom end rebuild for a ly6 due to low compression in a couple of cylinders. Long story short I ended up damaging one of the pistons and came across a set of ls2 rods and pistons flat tops. Now what is the proper ring gap for the top and 2nd ring and also compression ratio with use of the 823 heads?

ring gap will depend on intended use and if youre going to run a power adder or not, if this is just a mild n/a setup stock ring gap is fine

there are a few compression calculators online you can plug all of your info into to get your comp ratio

Yes. This is a n/a build for my daily driver silverado just with addition of a cam and springs. How do I go by finding out stock ring gap? Is there a formula equation for that as well?

For a street motor, usual rule of thumb is about .0045" per inch of bore dia on the top ting, and .005" to .0055" on the 2nd. So, something in the neighborhood of .018" top, and .020 - .022" for the 2nd, in an engine with about a 4" bore. A .001" or 2 extra won't hurt anything; but even .0001" too little can result in instant total destruction, so don't worry about trying to get it to the absolute minimum.
