Hoping you guys can help me identify this part I found in my oil pan. I removed the oil pan to replace the pickup tube o-ring due to low oil pressure and was surprised to find this. L76 6.0 2007 230K miles.

It is 100% the spring from the chain tensioner. Extremely common. Unfortunately you’ll want to pull the front cover and replace the tensioner AND the timing chain. The spring usually makes it’s way to the pan, but the plastic guide gets hung up on the oil pump. No big deal except now the chain is whipping against the upper metal part of the now bare tensioner frame. This will eventually wear the chain down until it breaks. I can show you pics if you want…I’ve got plenty of examples in the shop.
Go back with damper #12588670, and an LS2 timing chain. Might as well throw a new front seal at it while it’s apart.
