Head gasket for boosted 6.0 Hello guys,
As my title says have a boosted ls2 6.0 coming online soon. Gonna be running over 20 psi ~ 800-900 wheel. My bore was machined to 4.005” to accommodate pistons that were in stock at the time, compression ratio 10.7:1. What head gasket would be best? I keep reading about how LS9 is great, but it’s a little large…. 7 layer and 4.100. Or would a standard 3 layer and 4.020 or maybe 4.040 be better?

I dont have any experience with FI builds. That said, the OEM MLS steel (stainless steel!) head gaskets should be pretty stout. I'd wait and see who else chimes in here who does have experience with FI head gaskets. Cometic may make a FI specific gasket, too. Steel is pretty strong, and stainless is on another level above plain old mild steel. That's what I'm basing my .02 on.

LS2 is 3 layer and 4.020, LS3 is 5 layer 4.100, LS9 is 7 layer 4.100. I have also read LS3 and LS9 are 4.080 bore.
Cometic is your other option and they have a ton of different bore sizes, compressed thickness's and layer counts.
What heads are you running? LS2 heads you can run whichever gasket bore(LS2 or LS3). If you are running LS3 heads you need to run the LS3 bore gasket.

I run chevrolet ls9 head gaskets on my ls3 block with cathedral port heads. If I had a 6.0 with a 4" bore I'd still run ls9 head gaskets with boost. I'm over 20 psi peak with arp head studs and been running this engine combo for 5 years.
